Panic ensued when an assailant launched an attack near the Guru Ram Das Langar, a community kitchen, where both locals and devotees had gathered. Among the wounded were two volunteers (sewadars) from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). One of the victims was promptly taken to the Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Amritsar, according to IANS reports. The attacker and his accomplice were swiftly subdued by individuals within the temple complex and arrested by authorities. The police confirmed that the assailant had scoped out the area before carrying out the assault. “The second suspect reportedly conducted a reconnaissance along with the one who launched the attack,” a police officer informed the media.
