Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out extensive raids across Punjab on Friday, May 2, targeting multiple locations linked to gangster Happy Passia, a close associate of Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda. The raids were part of an ongoing investigation into a major terror conspiracy case. A total of 17 sites in Gurdaspur, Batala, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, and Faridkot were searched, resulting in the seizure of incriminating evidence including mobile phones, digital devices, and documents.
The searches were conducted at premises associated with individuals connected to Happy Passia and his international network. Currently detained in the United States after his arrest last month, Passia is a key member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), operated by terrorist Rinda from Pakistan.
According to the NIA, Happy Passia is suspected to be the mastermind behind a series of recent grenade attacks on police stations and posts across Punjab and Haryana. Investigations have revealed that Rinda’s global terror network is actively recruiting operatives in India. Happy Passia has allegedly played a crucial role in funding, supplying weapons, and providing explosives to BKI operatives through contacts based in Pakistan and other countries.
