New Delhi: The all-party meeting convened by the Central Government concluded at the Parliament Annexe building, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in attendance. Following the meeting, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi stated that all parties unanimously condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and assured the government’s full support from the opposition for any action it decides to take.

After attending the all-party meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the session, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah also present. He mentioned that all parties strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the need to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Following the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Defence Minister provided details about the Pahalgam incident and the measures taken by the Indian government during the CCS meeting. He described the incident as deeply tragic and noted that it has caused widespread concern across the country. In response, the Indian government has expressed its resolve to take even more stringent action.
After participating in the all-party meeting, AAP MP Sanjay Singh stated that the entire nation is grieving and outraged, and the people expect the central government to respond to the terrorists in their own language. He emphasized that, given the brutal killing of innocent civilians, terrorist camps must be destroyed and action should also be taken against Pakistan. Singh further pointed out that the attack occurred on April 22, but the area was reopened on April 20 without the knowledge of security agencies. He claimed that the agencies were unaware of this development and demanded that accountability be established and action taken to address the security lapse. TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay mentioned that the issue of security lapses was discussed during the meeting. He assured that all political parties stand united with the government and will support any decision made in the national interest.

During the all-party meeting convened by the Central Government, a two-minute silence was observed to honor the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack.

Among those who attended the all-party meeting were Congress President and Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, along with several other senior leaders. The Central government convened the meeting to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack. Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital to brief her on the tragic incident in Pahalgam.
The attack took place on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, where terrorists targeted tourists, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national, and leaving many others injured. It is being considered one of the most devastating terror attacks in the valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.
In response to the attack, India has implemented strong retaliatory measures against Pakistan due to its continued support for cross-border terrorism. During a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, India decided to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 until Pakistan provides credible and irreversible proof that it has ended support for cross-border terrorism. Additionally, the integrated Attari Check Post has been shut down.
India has also declared Pakistani High Commission officials as persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within a week. Moreover, visas issued under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) have been revoked, and Pakistan has been instructed to vacate within 48 hours. The Indian government has suspended all visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect, and all existing valid visas for Pakistani citizens will be invalidated as of April 27, 2025, according to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.
