Hours after the Indian and Pakistani militaries assaulted one another’s military installations, threatening to escalate the continuing conflict, a ceasefire was declared.
India and Pakistan have decided to implement a ceasefire immediately. President Donald Trump made the comment just minutes after claiming that US-mediated negotiations had resulted in an agreement between India and Pakistan on a “full and immediate” ceasefire.
“A truce has been agreed to by India and Pakistan with immediate effect. Pakistan has consistently worked to maintain regional peace and security while upholding its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Dar made a post on X, which was formerly Twitter. Hours after the Indian and Pakistani militaries assaulted one another’s military installations, threatening to escalate the continuing conflict, a ceasefire was declared.
The US president said on Truth Social, “I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE after a long night of talks mediated by the United States.” “Congratulations to both nations for their excellent intelligence and use of common sense. I appreciate you taking the time to consider this. Trump went on. Trump’s statement followed conversations with Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Rubio said the same thing about X. “Over the past 48 hours, @VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik,” he tweeted. He stated that he was “pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site” .
“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace,” he stated. Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister of Pakistan, affirmed the ceasefire’s immediate implementation.
PM clarified with NSA Ajit Doval and S Jaishankar the terms of our ceasefire with Pakistan :
As both countries made the significant declaration on May 10, sources told India Today that India consented to a ceasefire with Pakistan only on its own terms. Before the surprising declaration, the two neighboring countries were facing a situation akin to a war. After days of tension, Pakistan reached out to India, and the two sides worked together to establish a truce, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Saturday.
Asim Malik, Pakistan’s National Security Advisor (NSA), attempted to contact Indian NSA Ajit Doval through Operation Sindoor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however, made it apparent to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Doval that any ceasefire would only take place “on our terms.” NSA Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had been discussing the ceasefire process with their US counterparts for a number of days prior to the declaration. They provided Prime Minister Modi with regular updates during the negotiations.
Without the assistance of a third party, India and Pakistan worked out the ceasefire agreement directly. The call to India earlier in the day, which ultimately resulted in the breakthrough, was started by the Pakistani DGMO. The Foreign Secretary said that at 15:35 IST on Friday, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) spoke with his Indian counterpart. Both parties decided during the discussion to stop all military operations and firing, whether on land, in the air, or at sea, starting at 17:00 IST.
S. Jaishankar’s initial comments following the ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan :
EAM Jaishankar stated that India has “continually maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism” in the wake of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. On X, formerly Twitter, Jaishankar said, “India and Pakistan have worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action today.” The EAM’s remarks follow a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, which was reached about two days after tensions between the two neighbors escalated.
India Conflict in Pakistan; ceasefire :
After Pakistan launched an attack on India on Friday night using missiles and between 300 and 400 Turkish-made drones, the tension between India and Pakistan intensified. The two nations have finally decided to stop all air and ground military operations including fire starting at 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 10. As the Indian army put it, “Pakistan’s blatant escalation” prompted India to launch missiles and drones at four airbases in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday, according to sources cited by ANI. At 5 a.m. today, the Indian Army reported seeing several armed drones from Pakistan flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The Indian Air Defence System destroyed the drones after interacting with them.
